  13. So, I log on, and once again a huge amount of messages whizzes up the screen.
  14. Anyway...some answers.  Now, the actual QUESTIONS have probably disappeared
  15. into oblivion, but bear with me, I'd prefer to do the occasional posting like
  16. this than turn up like a rash all over the computer [phrase (c) The Blues
  17. Brothers, to save time...]

  19. 1) Diggers/Wings: Cosgrove Hall still want to do this -- and are still trying
  20. to finance it.

  22. 2) How much physics do I know?  How do I know that?  I don't know about the
  23. stuff I don't know.  I've no formal training but I've spent a lot of time
  24. around scientists of one sort of another, and I'm a great believe in osmotic
  25. knowledge.

  27. 3) 'What can the harvest hope for, if not for the care of the reaper man?' As
  28. far as I know, I made this phrase up.  In my head.  But the _metre_ sounds
  29. familiar.

  31. 4) Dog Latin: People in the UK, even in public (ie, private) schools, don't
  32. assume that 'everyone knows Latin'. Latin is barely taught anywhere any more
  33. -- it certainly wasn't taught to me. But dog Latin ISN'T Latin, except by
  34. accident.  It's simply made-up, vaguely Latin-sounding phrases, as in Nil
  35. Illegitimo Carborundum.  'Fabricati Diem, Punc' is total nonsense in Latin
  36. [no doubt there are readers out there who could construct the correct phrae
  37. that might have fallen from the lips of Dirty Hadrian].

  39. 5) Transworld still haven't settled on timing for the South African tour.
  40. But the Australian visit will probably pan out like this:
  41. April 2-16: Perth area, at Suncon and generally hanging out; I'll probably be
  42. doing some PR stuff for the con before Easter;
  43. April 17-20: Yes, Transworld have actually said that since I'll be passing
  44. through, I ought to do a signing in Alice Springs... Can't see it being a
  45. biggie, but if it happens, it'll be around then,
  46. April 21-25: PR stuff around Sydney.  Transworld want me to do talks and
  47. signings this time, rather than media stuff.
