  17. Nope.  In my opinion, the best of Tolkien's books was "The Hobbit."  I didn't
  18. care for the others.  And as a devoted reader of Pynchon, Burroughs, and 
  19. Joyce, I'd say that I know how to read "literature" (whatever that word
  20. means).

  26.     As I understand it, JRRT started off as a linguist and went down
  27. from there.  He wanted to use a language that he developed, so he wrote the
  28. Lord of the Rings.
