-
- This, of course, is basically what Terry's own reaction was when he
- first heard of the APF (well ok, he didn't say "I'm just plain funny;
- why analyze me?", but he did doubt the usefulness of the venture).
-
- Everytime I get doubts myself, however, I only have to look in my
- mailbox, or at threads that spring up after an APF version has been
- posted, and they quickly disappear: the response to the APF is
- *overwhelming*, and almost uniformly positive -- the only reactions
- that could remotely be called 'negative' are a few folks like yourself
- who either say "I don't see what use all this is" or "Aren't you
- getting a bit carried away in your enthousiasm?".
-
- Finally, I think you're wrong if you're saying that we are analyzing
- Terry Pratchett to death. In fact, I have the feeling we are doing
- anything but that. A typical APF thread on this group usually starts
- with one annotation, and then *very* *quickly* mutates into spirited
- discussions about the subject of the annotation itself (i.e. "did Watt
- invent the steam engine or not?", "how does the pea & princes fairy
- tale go?", "what stories has Larry Niven written?")
-
- After four or five of such articles, the Terry Pratchett connection
- has usually completely disappeared.
-
- So no, I don't think we are 'analyzing' too much. Just having fun, I'd
- say...
