  25.   I agree that the orb does have some independant thought (witness Garion on his
  26. way to meet Torak, Belgarath "explained" to it why it should make itself 
  27. "unnoticable", also witness (somewhere in the Mallorean) the orb explaining to
  28. Garion how to fix the crack that Torak make in the world).

  30.   However as to how it developed, I would like to say that I think that Aldur
  31. formed it, or it formed itself. Here are some reasons why:
  32.       1) If the prophecy formed it, why when the prophecy was destroyed in the
  33. end, did the orb retain it's intelligence. (Weak reasoning I know.)

  35.       2) If the orb's sentience is the prophecy, then why is the orb described
  36. as childish (see Belgarath talking to the orb in Bk 4,Belgariad), while the
  37. prophecy is very intelligent.

  39. Also to be taken into the arguement is that the prophecy has been around for a
  40. long time, where the orb appears to be relatively new.
