- Gods can not hold the orb. I believe that the passage in the Prologue to Pawn
- of Prophecy which clarifies this says something to the extent that before
- Torak used the orb to crack the world, "it welcomed the touch of man or god"
- but it would not be used in that manner again. For that reason, only one
- who is without evil intent in his soul may take it up. Eriond was one of
- these, and so was Riva. Riva's descendants became a revision to this rule,
- presumably because the orb sensed that in order to aid the prophecy it
- would need to form a bond with the Rivan line. Gods could touch it (as
- could anyone else) until Torak pissed it off.
