  21. When I was in high school, I worked for a biostats group at
  22. Massachusetts General Hospital doing data base programming and file
  23. organization of a study on panic attacks.  By coincidence, the group
  24. at Mass general that was doing the panic attack study was also doing a
  25. study on *extreme* cocaine use (I don't remember the exact amounts you
  26. had to be using to qualify, and I have no experience with cocaine so I
  27. can't make a guess, but I remember that it was some ridiculous amount
  28. a day.)

  30. Often when I went down to the clinic to pick up interviews and reports
  31. from the panic attack people, I passed people who were participating
  32. in the coaine use study, waiting for thier interviews.  Every once in
  33. a while there would be a patient whose nose had collapsed entirely
  34. into thier face.  And it was more than one; I asked the clinic nurse
  35. about it, and she explained (with some disgust) that those were the
  36. most extreme cocaine subjects.

  38. I didn't stare so I can't say if all the skin was gone or not, but
  39. these people most definitely had holes where thier noses should have
  40. been.  Scared the shit out of me;  I still won't do cocaine to this
  41. day (although just about every other drug is fair game.. :)
