- DSS is Direct Station Selection. Usually a button on a telephone
- or attendent console assigened to a station in the system. A small
- system may have each station assigned to an individual button. On
- an attendent console DSS buttons are used to extend a call on a
- incoming line to the station assigned to the DSS button. On a telephone
- DSS buttons are used to place an internal call to the station assigened
- to the DSS button and sometimes to transfer an external call to that
- station, depending on the design of the system.
