- I myself was an engineering student, and now I am a computer science
- student. I have four years of professional experience with a CAD/CAM
- company where I worked with 3-d design, 3-d visualization, voice
- recognition, animation, and 3-d output, both real and virtual. I've
- followed the cp newsgroups, read _Mondo 2000_, the original _Anarchist's
- Cookbook_ and _Neuromancer_, watched _Brazil_, _Bladerunner_, _Tron_, _The
- Lawnmower Man_, _Terminator 2_ and _Max Headroom_, moshed to Ministry and
- Digital Front, dated a female I met online, played various 'Net-games' and
- have befriended a hacker who later was arrested by the FBI for illegal
- access to information.
-
- Yes, real hackers exist of both the legal and illegal genres, but cp is a
- movement in science-fiction and entertainment. It is NOT a real movement
- in the sense of a coherent social, political or technological force for
- change. The Beatnik and Hippie "movements" of the 60's and early 70's may
- have qualified as such, but definitely not cp. Anybody who thinks
- otherwise, is probably playing too many role-playing games.
-
- Before you flame me, I'll let you know I'm a great fan of cp, sci-fi, and
- rpg's. I just have a grip on reality.
