- I rented The Exotic Ones (aka The Monster and the Stripper). This was
- one of many movies made in the 50's and 60's by Ron Ormond, apparently
- starring most of his family. It's real low-budget, and comparable in
- mad genius to Ray Dennis Steckler.
-
- A crooked strip-bar owner in New Orleans (1968) needs a new attraction
- to bring in business, so his assistants go out in the swamps to
- retrieve a swamp monster, played by huge rockabilly singer Sleepy
- LaBeef. (One of the other actors is Luther Perkins. Could this be
- Johnny Cash's Guitar player?) Meanwhile, we are treated to some
- exciting performances by real Bourbon Street strippers (as well as a
- great harmonica act). Of course, the monster gets loose at the end.
- Meanwhile, scenes include a catfight, the monster tearing off a man's
- arm and beating him to death with it, the monster as a geek (real?),
- and a swindling racketeer treated to a spitoon drink.
-
- If you like this kind of trash, don't miss this one. Any ideas on
- where to buy a good copy? I am writing to Tim Ormond to see if he's
- selling...
