-
-
- Several people have pointed out to me the problems inherent with the
- first suggestion above, so it will be dropped from consideration.
-
-
- And, as I think about the remaining three, and after reading Tim's reasons
- above, as well as others from private e-mail, I'm beginning to like
- alt.psychology.personality more and more. First of all, it is hierarchical,
- and would allow logical expansion both horizontally and vertically. Secondly,
- it is very generic, and won't stifle discussion of the general aspects of
- personality, which will probably be (or should be) of interest to those who
- are more into specific typing systems, such as Myers-Briggs. And lastly, it
- does allow for future expansion if for some reason it doesn't work out for
- the people expressly interested in Myers-Briggs, such as myself. I don't
- believe that would be necessary, however.
-
- Thus, unless I get compelling reasons in the next three days to reconsider
- this decision (an 'NF' making a decision? Unbelievable! :^) ), I will ask
- the powers to be at Netcom to create 'alt.psychology.personality' by Friday
- at the earliest. BTW, just to cover myself, is there anybody else out there
- who'd be willing to create the newsgroup should Netcom either balk at the
- idea (unlikely), or take too long of a time to send out the control messages
- (more likely)?
-
- Let's finish this discussion, get all of our cards and ideas on the table,
- and move on. It's soon time to create the newsgroup. Once it is created,
- I will post periodic announcements to other newsgroups for a month or so,
- which would include mention of Myers-Briggs, Enneagrams (sp.?), etc., and
- other words dealing with personality, in order to drum up further support
- and get it going on the right foot. I may even cross-post some of the recent,
- very interesting discussion on sci.psychology concerning Myers-Briggs
- explanation of political preferences.
-
-
- So how about 'alt.psychology.personality'? Any serious objections to this
- name?
