  32.    I believe 'gaijin' has a meaning more similar to "foreigners" or 
  33. "Western barbarians" and carries the overtones of racial inferiority in that
  34. it reflects any racist attitudes that the speaker holds.
  35.    To be called a "gaijin" by a friend would not be an insult.

  40.    Y'know, it's amazing what sort of ignorance is shown here. Given that the
  41. objective was to occupy Japan without violence or rebellion, working with
  42. the Imperial House as a figurehead was perhaps *the* key element leading to
  43. the success of the occupation. Presumably you would have preferred a more
  44. aggressive occupation, and sought to punish the Japanese via repartitions ?
  45.    Like they did to Germany after WWI, which lead into WWII ?

  53.    Lighten up dude. You've shown some good ideas in your posts, but in the
  54. main, you've displayed an appalling inability to appreciate the right of
  55. others to be different. That some people believe that Japanese are better
  56. than Caucasion (sp ?), that some believe in God, that some believe that
  57. females do not have to respond in ways you consider they should, are all
  58. things you should try to cope with, understand, and deal with on a rational
  59. level, rather than fulminating, frothing at the mouth, and automatically
  60. assuming your opinions are The Ultimate Truth. Grow up a bit, man !
