- Being from the Northwest, I'm exposed to a huge variety of quality Winter
- Ales. I've already tried quite a few of this year's editions, which I will
- rank in descending order of how much I like them:
-
- Deschutes Jubelale -- copper-colored, well-hopped, malty. I LOVE it.
- Pyramid Snow Cap -- not as heavy as it usually is, but very complex taste.
- Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale -- not much character but bitter. it's okay.
- Red Hook Winterhook -- as good as it's been. i've never been too impressed.
- Full Sail Wassail -- disappointing decline from last year. not too good.
-
- Last year, I would have put the Wassail near or at the top. I don't know
- what happened to it this year. Luckily I saved a six pack from last year,
- I liked it so much. I think I have about two bottles left.
-
- Others that I haven't yet tried this year are the following:
-
- Grant's Spiced Ale
- Thomas Kemper Winterbraeu
- Anchor's Our Special Ale
-
- I haven't seen Anchor's yet, otherwise I would have already tried it! :^9
- Last year's was wonderfully spiced with juniper. I'm really looking forward
- to it this year.
-
- And I'm not even mentioning the non-bottled Winter Brews! This is certainly
- my favorite time of year when it comes to beer. And for me, it comes to beer
- pretty often. :^)
-
- Happy hoppy,
