  10. I am joining this late, but want to put my two cents in. Guys, your
  11. point of view about who is out there is squewed by the lists you
  12. subscribe to. I agree, there are fewer women reading the wais-talk
  13. or alt. bbs lists, but hey, that is just one fraction of the online
  14. universe!
  15. Take a look at kidsnetm kidlink, or many of the listserv lists
  16. that focus on non-computer software/hardware/programming issues and
  17. you will see a hefty representation of women--up t0 70% on some
  18. lists. Conclusion: who is out there online reflects their profession
  19. or interests and the gender biases in that field. It is IMPOSSIBLE
  20. to make generalizations about online usage, internet and newsgroup
  21. access, etc. by just generalizing from a few lists.
