- I am joining this late, but want to put my two cents in. Guys, your
- point of view about who is out there is squewed by the lists you
- subscribe to. I agree, there are fewer women reading the wais-talk
- or alt. bbs lists, but hey, that is just one fraction of the online
- universe!
- Take a look at kidsnetm kidlink, or many of the listserv lists
- that focus on non-computer software/hardware/programming issues and
- you will see a hefty representation of women--up t0 70% on some
- lists. Conclusion: who is out there online reflects their profession
- or interests and the gender biases in that field. It is IMPOSSIBLE
- to make generalizations about online usage, internet and newsgroup
- access, etc. by just generalizing from a few lists.
