- We just tried to get insurance for my wife's 66 Mustang convertible
- (had it professionally restored - it was her original car from her 16th
- birthday). Anyway, State Farm needed an appraisel, which we had done by
- a professional firm in Largo, Fl. The appraisel came in at $18,000.00,
- now State Farm is telling us that "according to their 'Gold Book' for
- classic cars (in excellant condition)" that it can only be insured for
- $14,210.00.
-
- That seems a little odd to us. Why would State Farm require an appriasel
- for insurance if they already knew the value of the car (from the Gold Book)?
- (Does the insurance industry have such a book, or is that a bunch of hokum?)
-
- What do you suggest? Who is a better unsurier(?)? Is that price for a
- Mustang ($18,000) realistic for immaculate condition, all matching numbers,
- 81K miles?
