  13. Call for Interest and Experience:

  15. A task force for creating a FreeNet for the Triangle area
  16. is growing and now reaching a "critical mass".  We need more
  17. volunteers !  Please reply to me with your interest/experience
  18. and become a part of Triangle history!

  20. The people who bring this idea to fruition will be affecting the lives
  21. of thousands of Triangle (and surrounding area) both now and for years
  22. to come.  This is one of those rare opportunities to be a part of some-
  23. thing good.

  25. Our group needs additional experienced volunteers in many areas, from
  26. grant-seeking to database mgmt to programming and human-networking.
  27.  
  28. Mission of the Public Information Network (PIN, Inc.):
  29.     to provide free, computer-based services connecting
  30.     local people to one another and to local information.
  31.  
  32. Services include:
  33.     Electronic Mail 
  34.     Discussion groups
  35.     Ask-an-expert services
  36.     Access to local public databases, brochures, and other
  37.         files made available (by those responsible for the data).
  38.  
  39. Access for people in 
  40.     homes, libraries, *schools*, workplace, retirement homes, etc.
  41.  
  42. Public Information Network, Inc. is incorporated, non-profit,
  43. and tax-exempt.  PIN is now part of the National Public Telecomputing
  44. Network (NPTN), which has affiliates including the Cleveland FreeNet
  45. the Youngstown FreeNet, Cincinnati, Peoria, etc.
