  15. I would suggest that communes are a subset of the counter-culture
  16. and are not completely representative.

  18. There seems to be a running assumption here that counter culture = poor
  19. non-working types.  While I am too young to be personally familiar with
  20. the 60's counter culture, the counter culture I am familiar with today
  21. takes care of itself quite well with alternative health care and has
  22. plenty of the "wisdom-enhanced" (seniors) living among them.  While
  23. their tax contribution is small, so are their demands from society.
