- I decided I was going to get organized. I was fed up with having to search
- the entire flat just to find the telephone bill.
-
- I bought a stack of three A4 filing trays. They are labelled "READ ME",
- "DEAL WITH ME", and "FILE ME".
-
- Bits of paper arrive by post, I read them, then I leave them lying around
- somewhere. Within a day or so they'd migrate to the top tray. (I'm not sure
- exactly how this bit works, but I think it may involve Helen.)
-
- When bits of paper become 'urgent' in some sense, I find them by looking in
- "READ ME". I then re-read them, decide they're not *that* urgent, and put
- them in "DEAL WITH ME".
-
- Unfortunately, "DEAL WITH ME" is now sufficiently full that I've had to start
- moving stuff straight to the final stage, "FILE ME". In a few months "FILE
- ME" will be full and I'll have to decide what to do next. Probably buy
- another tray.
-
- This morning Mantis received a gorgeous office equipment supplies catalogue.
- Over a centimetre thick. I love that stuff. Apparently staplers are now
- called "stapling machines". The new catalogue has eight pages devoted to
- stapling machines. Plus all kinds of shiny folders for putting bits of paper
- in, and lots and lots of hi-tech-looking disposable pens and pencils.
-
- My favourite item is the Post-It Note roll dispenser. You pull out and tear
- off as much Post-It note as you like, like a toilet roll. They also have
- little rainbow-coloured Post-It flags for sticking to pages of books to mark
- your place.
