- Yes. One of the requirements for the space station is that it have an escape
- vehicle. Nasa began with an escape vehicle plan costing $2 billion that would
- glide back to earth shuttle-style. Yes, this is the cost of an entire shuttle.
- A very DUMB thing to do when Nasa is fighting for every penny for the Space
- Station. All you need is an Apollo style capsule big enough to hold the crew
- and cheaply land in the water. Fortunatly, (and even better) they are
- considering buying a Russian Soyuz space capsule.
-
- Of course it were up to me, I'd have the crew get in their space suits, grab
- a retro rocket, a parachute, and a heat shield and do a Space Dive!!!
- Hey, it would be the ride of their lives :)
