  16. Indeed, depending on how you define WWII, dates as early as 1933 can be
  17. justified.  (That was when Japan invaded China... which is not just a
  18. side issue, because it was the ultimate cause of Pearl Harbor.  Japan
  19. attacked because of the US/UK/Dutch oil embargo, which was imposed due
  20. to Japan's unwillingness to halt its ongoing conquest of China.)
