- Followup-To: Why are Some Journals so Expensive?

- I understand some of the remarks about profit making vs. non-profit making
- journals. Nevertheless the price of some journals is OBSCENE. One such is
-
- Theoretical Computer Science
-
- published by Elsevier. This now costs in the region of 900 pounds sterling
- in the UK which is more than that of the ENTIRE PACKAGE of journals that
- one can buy from the ACM including JACM, CACM, Computer Surveys, SIGPLAN
- notices, etc. etc.
-
- We have had to cancel our subscription to TCS. May I urge as many of you
- as have the authority to do so to follow our example. Maybe a mass desertion
- might persuade the publishers to bring down their prices (their other journals
- also seem to be sky high).
