  22. Then exactly what do you think the limits should be?  For what purposes are
  23. you against the availability of cars?

  25. Let me put it this way: suppose you could design a city in whatever way you
  26. want, and impose whatever rules you wanted on that city.  What would be the
  27. layout of the public transit system?  What would be the layout of the road
  28. system?  What rules would you mandate to govern the use of each?  How would
  29. you accomodate those who wished to live in the suburbs?

  31. Getting back to reality, what methods would you use to address the current
  32. transportation problems of a city like Houston?  New York?  Etc.  Given that
  33. I recall (but, alas, cannot reproduce the posting) that you favor(ed) reducing
  34. the number of lanes on the Bay Bridge to make room for bicyclists, it is not
  35. at all clear to me that the methods you may have in mind would go over very
  36. well with most people who live in the cities that would be affected.
