- Thanks to all who replied to my question of the green solder mask. The
- green stuff is silkscreened and isn't really necessary for homebrew
- circuit boards. However, several varnishes exist that will insulate the
- board. One of them is a red varnish from GC Electronics, and other kinds
- are clear and comes in a spray. Radio Shack doesn't sell something like it
- so you will need to look elsewhere.
-
-
- Now, I have another question! Previously, I've been drilling holes for my
- IC's with a drill press, which isn't so bad for the small 16 pin IC's.
- I can usually eyeball where the drill press will drill with reasonable
- accuracy, and any variation can be compensated by bending the pins of the
- IC socket or IC to fit.
-
- However, I have a 64 pin IC that I want to put on a circuit board. I don't
- wish to have to get a stronger eyeglass prescription after drilling the holes.
- So does anyone have any techniques or equipment that they use to drill these
- types of things?
-
- My fantasty drill press accessory is a X-Y sled that fits on the bench of the
- drill press. This sled would have clips that my circuit board attaches to. When
- I twist some screws, the sled locks, and when I push it in an X or Y direction,
- it clicks and locks at every 0.100". Does such a thing exist, or will someone
- take this idea, make a fortune selling these sleds, and give me a free sled
- in exchange?
-
-
- Any tips or pointers would be deeply appreciated.
