- Judging by pulse rates, I get a good workout on my treadmill. When it's dark,
- cold, and icy outside, a treadmill is far superior to running outside. (So
- it doesn't build character ... I've got other ways to that, like being a Red
- Sox fan.) The running uphill option, combined with the give of the running
- surface, saves my legs some pounding. I like being able to listen to the
- radio while I run, occasionally, and I don't do walkmen anymore for safety
- reasons. So, I like having the option. In general, I much prefer being in
- touch with the outside and with other people.
