- Hi all
-
- Did anyone else notice our own Cowboy Larry's picture in
- the latest Flying Models? He's holding his Roadrunner. Lyman
- Lew also got mentioned in the same article but didn't get
- a picture. Hmmmm....maybe I ought to build something and
- make next years'? It is one heckuva drive though...
-
- Garsh. I was hoping no one would see that - me having trouble with my
- engine and all. Take a look at Colonel Gary Marchand's picture on the
- next page or so, to get a better look at the RoadRunner, done up in yellow
- with New Mexico zia symbols in red on the wings. The ship was designed by
- Bill Melton and Jim Young, and later published in March 1967 MAN. We had
- Bill along with us at VSC IV to honor the occasion of its 25th year,
- making it VSC eligible.
-
- Lyman's ship was finished in orange, with K&B .40. Gary's was yellow, and
- mine was dark red. Actually we had a fourth ship by Mark Bowen, in black,
- which had a misunderstanding with a Las Cruces dust devil two days before
- we went to Arizona.
-
- BTW, Iskandar, there is a large East Coast Vintage contest too. You might
- check into it - seems like it was in Atlanta maybe. (Don't quote me,
- though..)
-
- FM Editor Bob Hunt himself arranged us a copy of "original" MAN plans
- (well, the first page anyway) for the RoadRunner. Just in case you wanted
- to build one - they are a great ship, with 620 square inch wing,
- originally designed for a Fox .35. I would send you a copy of the plan
- if you got serious about it.
