- The engine and transmission are supposed to be separable inside the
- car, but this is not a guarantee that it will be possible with home
- tools. Usually if I have to pull an engine, I go ahead and pull it
- with the transmission and separate them when they're out of the car.
- It's easier (with the proper hoist of course!) and you run less risk
- of bending/gouging the transmission input shaft when it comes out of
- the flywheel and clutch.
