- I was driving home one day when the engine just died and would not restart.
- After getting the car towed home, I found that the distributor shaft had
- snapped off at the bottom, just above the gear. I had two choices, tear the
- top end apart or try to pull the gear up through the opening in the intake
- manifold. I tried magnets, those long extension with 'fingers', even super
- glue. Since the gear is beveled, you had to lift and rotate...rotating it
- is just about impossible w/o it dropping. I finally put J B on the end of
- a long bolt and stuck it on top of the gear and left it there over night to
- cure. I was able to pull it out very easily the next day.
