- The "GT" term has lost alot of its original meaning these days. It
- originates from the Italian phrase "Gran Turismo", which was meant to signify a
- vehicle that was of the high performance category that could also serve as a
- touring car. This is usually reserved for hard-top vehicles. While there are a
- few vehicles around that could wear this name with its original intent (Mustang
- GT--the convertable really shouldn't qualify) there are others that I can't
- fathom (the Sunbird GT and the like). SO GT has a meaning; whether it's used
- properly or not is another story.
