- I've had two (one Ford, one Chevy) come apart - the rubber sheared and
- the outer ring started walking about the inner one. Didn't notice until
- I tried to set the timing one day. "Something's *wrong* here..."

- Both of the engines had been rebuilt by other people - after pulling
- off the outer ring and looking at the condition of the rubber, I believe
- the balancers were dunked in some type of solvent which ate up the
- rubber.
