- Hello all,
-
- I believe that either the starter motor or the starter solenoid is burned
- out on my '74 Chevy (Monte Carlo, 350). The problem is when I turn the
- key, the starter doesn't crank. In fact, the starter is dead silent, no
- clicks or anything (at least I don't hear anything from the driver's seat).
- The only thing that happens it that the interior dome lamp goes completely
- dark while I turn the key (indicating that current is at least being
- drawn from the battery--which is brand new, and fully charged, BTW).
- Occasionly, when trying to start the car after letting it sit for awhile,
- I'll hear a click and the starter will crank for about 1/2-second, but then
- it goes dead again. This problem came up when I tried to start the car
- on an extremely humid day (figures...). Any guess as to the problem:
- starter, solenoid or a short elsewhere in the circuit?
