  15.                    SOUND NEWS AND ARTS magazine

  17. "What is it, man?"

  19.      Sound is an "alternative" news and entertainment source distributed
  20. monthly in the Omaha (Nebraska, USA) area. The focus is on issues and
  21. personalities that interest the open-minded youth-ish peoples of the
  22. "global community", primarily with a local-area slant. SOUND reaches most
  23. of the Omaha and surrounding areas in the form of a free newspaper available
  24. at most relevant places around town. Only recently, starting with issue
  25. #4 in June of 1992, has it become available over the network via email
  26. and GOPHER server.  SOUND has an ever-growing "staff" of artists and
  27. writers because it is constantly open to new voices and fresh faces...be
  28. they foreign or domestic.

  30. "How do I get it?"

  32.      Welp...it's as easy as emailing us with your request.  All email
  33. should be directed to the Internet address: ed@odin.unomaha.edu.  You'll
  34. have a few options...
  35.  
  36. You can request:
  37.              -a table of contents for the current issue
  38.              -a specific section of the current issue  
  39.                 (arts, commentary, features, music)
  40.              -the entire text of the current issue
  41.              -the entire text of a back issue      
  42.                 (#4/June'92 being the first net-issue)
  43.              -the table of contents for all net-issues so far
  44.                 (so as to know which back issues to order!)
  45.  
  46.      No special subject lines or anything...we handle all email
  47. personally.

  49. OR...you can GOPHER to odin.unomaha.edu and read it from there.  You'll
  50. have to have a GOPHER client on your end, of course.  More info on
  51. GOPHER's can be found in the ALT.GOPHER newsgroup.  You can also TELNET
  52. to an "anonymous gopher server" at the address 134.84.132.4 (login as
  53. GOPHER).

  55. The GOPHER version of SOUND has a few more articles than the email and
  56. print versions and is constantly in a state of change.  New articles
  57. are added frequently, old articles deleted.  Not to mention the
  58. convenience of having the articles "individually wrapped" so you can
  59. read only the ones you want.

  63.      We will also take poetry, story, article, commentary, letters to
  64. Saucy Bubbles advice column, and any other text submissions through
  65. email.  Send those to: ed@odin.unomaha.edu.  Be sure to include
  66. your name, email and snailmail addresses (so we can send you a print
  67. copy if you're published), and any other stipulations you may have.  You
  68. keep all rights to your material.
  69.      To submit artwork via GIF would be interesting, but you can just
  70. send copies of your works to: SOUND/PO Box 31104/Omaha,NE  68132
  71. (you may also get a print copy of the SOUND by sending a large SASE with
  72. appropriate postage to that address)

  76.      We felt that the readers here would be interested in perusing the
  77. SOUND, submitting writings or artwork, or both.  We sensed high
  78. creative and interest flow among the posters to this group...so we went
