  15.     I have noticed lately that my kill file junks an
  16.     extraordinary amount of instances of "Re:" in the 
  17.     subject header, so yesterday I sat down and read
  18.     through a bunch of the junked messages...

  20.     There's a huge discussion about splitting the newsgroup
  21.     that I have been missing.  I thought I'd add my vote to
  22.     whoever is counting (which is probably no one).

  24.     Don't split the group.  The standardized headers are a nice
  25.     idea.  Someone can take care of posting a weekly misc.forsale
  26.     .computers etiquette article that describes the standardized
  27.     system.  The cross-posting would be horrendous.  If you don't
  28.     believe me then subscribe to the entire set of comp.sys.sun
  29.     newsgroups or comp.sys.mac or whatever.  It would take 6
  30.     months and we'd have across the board postings about splitting
  31.     misc.forsale.ibm into subsections for monitors and whatever.

  33.     Use your kill file.  Junk every Re:, WANTED: or whatever.
  34.     Search for strings if you are looking for something in particular
  35.     It never takes me more than 5 minutes to determine what may
  36.     be of interest and read it, and I'm just browsing.

  38.     It's kind of sad how you have to post to say what you want
  39.     when it is bad form to waste the bandwidth.  It also adds
  40.     to the ammunition of the "splitting advocates".  Will 
  41.     we see splinter groups?

  43.     Just my $.02 worth, and yes I'm sure lots of you rate it
  44.     lower in value than that.  I hope the "Followup: " works.
