- Hear, hear! When I was shopping for health insurance last fall, the agent
- and I somehow started talking about pregnancy insurance. In her (the
- agent's) opinion, buying the maternity rider for a health insurance
- policy is nuts. She said it usually costs around $3000 to $4000 to have
- a baby without complications. If complications arise (Caesarean section
- required, etc.), the surgical coverage of the regular health policy
- goes into effect. Sooo...just sock the $3000 to $4000 away in the savings
- account, and save the extra money you'd spend on the *expensive* maternity
- rider.
-

- >If Bonnie has, say, $1500. in predictable, uncovered expenses next year
- >it would be surprising if anyone would contract to pay these expenses

-
- The simple truth. How lovely!

-
- And it doesn't do much to foster a sense of personal responsibility among
- those who are insured. After all, if there's no personal financial
- risk involved in whatever physically self-destructive behavor you choose,
- then why should I *try* to remain in good health?
