- I just went through the saga of getting a new pair of shoes last week. All of
- the Rockports now have some kind of sole which is very cheap and look like they
- might last six months. No longer does Rockport have the rugged Vibram tire
- treads. I pretty much wrote Rockport off as a "used to be good but just
- another Yuppie shoe". I looked at Timberland, a rugged shoe but no style that
- I liked. I finally settled on Clarkes, an English shoe which is very rugged
- (and very expensive, about the same price as Rockports).
