  29. I just went through the saga of getting a new pair of shoes last week.  All of
  30. the Rockports now have some kind of sole which is very cheap and look like they
  31. might last six months.  No longer does Rockport have the rugged Vibram tire
  32. treads.  I pretty much wrote Rockport off as a "used to be good but just
  33. another Yuppie shoe".  I looked at Timberland, a rugged shoe but no style that
  34. I liked.  I finally settled on Clarkes, an English shoe which is very rugged
  35. (and very expensive, about the same price as Rockports).
