- Hello.
- I have a query relating to GNU in general and a gnu C compiler for
- the DSP56000 in particular.
- Firstly, this machine does NOT currently receive this group due to
- a link limitation, but I can post to it. Any replies to me must be
- emailed for me to receive them.
-
- We have been looking for a C compiler for the Motorola 56001 DSP.
- Motorola tells us they have a GNU C compiler available for A$914
- and the source is available for a massive "handling" charge of A$250.
-
- Is Motorola really in a position to charge for this compiler when a GNU
- compiler is usually free except for distribution ? Is this charge
- purely Motorola's charge for the documentation printed on Motorola
- letterhead paper, or does it represent some other special deal with
- the Open Software Foundation ?
-
- Motorola claims they provide no support for the compiler. Who does &
- at what cost ?
- Is the "source" available via FTP anyway ?
-
- Thanks in advance to anyone who can help clarify these issues for me.
