  11. I find saving files in emacs in my system to be
  12. very slow. After some investigation with the help
  13. of our systems administrator here, we discovered
  14. that emacs looks at a lock file created in 
  15. /usr/local/emacs/lock in our environment. Apparently
  16. this seems to be the cause of the slowness while
  17. saving files. Has anyone experienced this problem?
  18.  
  19. Is there a way to turn of locking mechanism from
  20. inside emacs by setting a variable or something
  21. like that?
