  13. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with the following
  14. problem. I am trying to use 'xtool' to view the execution trace of
  15. a program. However, when I run the following at the command line
  16.  
  17.     %xtool node    ['node' is the name of my executable program]

  19. I get the error below:

  28. Background on my work:
  29. I am doing my work at my VAXstation 3100 over 'telnet' to a machine
  30. that is running SunOS 4.1.  I have set my DISPLAY to my workstation.

  32. Suggestions thus far:

  34. People have said that I need to run xtool under 'suntools' (sunview) and
  35. that I need to be on a Sun workstation. I can't disagree that this is not 
  36. the case.

  38. Basically, my question is the following. If I telnet to the machine
  39. (that I have to be on) from a Sun workstation, is it possible to run
  40. 'suntools'  correctly which is available on the remote machine and consequently 
  41.  be able to run 'xtool'?
  42.  
  43. Forgive me if this question is dumb, but being ignorant of this type of
  44. software has forced me to ask it.
