- Hi,
-
- I would appreciate it if someone could help me with the following
- problem. I am trying to use 'xtool' to view the execution trace of
- a program. However, when I run the following at the command line
-
- %xtool node ['node' is the name of my executable program]
-
- I get the error below:
-
- Xtool Version 3.1 -- Copyright (C) 1991 ParaSoft
- Reading symbol table "node": 100%
- Symbol table: 330 public, 7 local.
- window: Base frame not passed parent window in environment
- window: Base frame not passed parent window in environment
- Failed to open graphics interface.
-
- Background on my work:
- I am doing my work at my VAXstation 3100 over 'telnet' to a machine
- that is running SunOS 4.1. I have set my DISPLAY to my workstation.
-
- Suggestions thus far:
-
- People have said that I need to run xtool under 'suntools' (sunview) and
- that I need to be on a Sun workstation. I can't disagree that this is not
- the case.
-
- Basically, my question is the following. If I telnet to the machine
- (that I have to be on) from a Sun workstation, is it possible to run
- 'suntools' correctly which is available on the remote machine and consequently
- be able to run 'xtool'?
-
- Forgive me if this question is dumb, but being ignorant of this type of
- software has forced me to ask it.
-
- Thanks in Advance,
-
- Patrick
