  17. I have seen that question asked a number of times but I have not seen
  18. a solution. Therefore, when I came to want the behaviour I decided to
  19. do something about it. The outcome is a widget that superficially
  20. behaves like a text widget, but in fact is an AsciiText widget inside
  21. an R5 Porthole widget, i.e. scrolling is achieved by moving the text
  22. widget around underneath.

  24. A version of this ScrollingText widget is already available in the 3.0
  25. beta distribution of my aXe editor on export.lcs.mit.edu. It is used
  26. as the filter and filename fields of the FileNominator file selector
  27. widget. A new version will appear with the release of aXe 3.0 proper,
  28. which hopefully will happen within the next 7 days if no last minute
  29. problems crop up.
