- Hello,
-
- I got a warning message on either of two machines after doing the following:
-
- 1) the /etc/rc2.d/S85tcp script always called a /etc/default/tcp script
- wherein env. variables like DOMAIN and NETMASK are set.
- All worked fine.
- 2) I edited the S85tcp and replaced the 'ifconfig xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ...'
- by 'ifconfig $ADDRESS ....'
- With ADDRESS being set in /etc/default/tcp
- All worked fine so far.
- 3) I copied /etc/rc2.d/S85tcp to another host as well as the /etc/default/tcp
- 4) I edited the /etc/default/tcp and put the correct ADDRESS in.
- 5) Local addresses and all the other is correct, but:
- from time to time the machines say 'there is a duplicate serial numer
- on host (address of 2nd/1st machine), please reinstall tcp/ip on that
- machine'
- Despite this warning, all works out correct.
-
- Does anybody know WHY THE HELL the serial numbers figure out to be identical
- with only the /etc/rc2.d/S85tcp files being copied???
-
- Thanks in advance, henning (hstams@biolan.Uni-Koeln.DE)
