  12.    I have a QIC-40 tape drive that has been gathering dust since I
  13. dumped SCO XENIX for 386bsd. Having a small disk, I sure would like to
  14. be able to archive stuff.
  15.    I have never written a driver before, but there is a first time for
  16. everything! The problem is, I have squat in the way of technical docs 
  17. for it. I have not tried to contact the manufacturer yet, I will probably
  18. do this soon.
  19.    Meanwhile, I wonder if anyone has any info on this type of drive. Right now,
  20. I am more interested in just making it go than I am in being able to
  21. read and write QIC-40 tapes. Does any one have experience with
  22. this type (i.e. floppy controller) tape drive interface? Does it
  23. vary between manufacturers ( mine is an Irwin, OEM archive). Do you have or
  24. know of any useful docs? Are there any big issues that I am missing?
