- I have a QIC-40 tape drive that has been gathering dust since I
- dumped SCO XENIX for 386bsd. Having a small disk, I sure would like to
- be able to archive stuff.
- I have never written a driver before, but there is a first time for
- everything! The problem is, I have squat in the way of technical docs
- for it. I have not tried to contact the manufacturer yet, I will probably
- do this soon.
- Meanwhile, I wonder if anyone has any info on this type of drive. Right now,
- I am more interested in just making it go than I am in being able to
- read and write QIC-40 tapes. Does any one have experience with
- this type (i.e. floppy controller) tape drive interface? Does it
- vary between manufacturers ( mine is an Irwin, OEM archive). Do you have or
- know of any useful docs? Are there any big issues that I am missing?
-
- Thanks, Greg greg@megas.ecse.rpi.edu
