- Thanks for posting this. After wading through, I happened to glance
- up and notice my copy of Kernighan & Pike. The book is called _The
- UNIX Programming Environment_, without a (TM) or (R) on the cover or
- spine. Without opening the book, you can't tell that UNIX is a
- trademark of anyone. Anyone who looks through a book store could
- quite reasonably assume that UNIX refers to a family of operating
- systems rather than a specific AT&T product. Indeed, several book
- stores I frequent file books about SCO, XENIX, BSD, SVR4 and others
- under the generic label "Unix".
