- The boss wants me to find out about 4mm DAT drives.
- System: AIX 3.2.x, RS/6000-530, 64mb/potloads (to be expanded to somewhere in
- the 4GB range)
-
- Who's got the best bang for your buck? Reliability? Ease of installation?
- Compatibility with respect to device drivers? (Does it come with its own,
- or does it work with IBM's? How well does it work? does tctl rewoffl work
- right?) How do they stack up against 8mm? Speed? Reliability of written
- data? Error checking/handling? Ease of handling multiple files on a
- single tape?
-
- This is not going to be a daily-backup drive, but for long-term archival.
-
- Email me the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I'll summarize if there
- is interest...
