- Here's a little challenge from one who seldom uses TeX because of the
- frustration of not having a local guru to ask how to do
- moderately complicated things. The answer may be easy. If it
- is I apologise.
-
- I wish to typeset something like the following
-
- 1. Item 1 Explanation 1
- 2. Item 2 Explanation 2
- 3. Item 3 \
- 4. Item 4 | Explanation to 3,4 and 5
- 5. Item 5 /
- 6. Item 6 Explanation 6
-
- where some of the items are bracketted as shown.
-
- The trouble is that I want the lefthand ends of all the items to be
- aligned and similarly with the explanations. To get the bracket I have to
- go into math mode. How do I align items 1, 2 and 6 (outside math mode)
- with 3,4 and 5 (in math mode)? LaTeX preferred but TeX would do.
