  24. BookMaster to FrameMaker 
  25. Filter Version 3 Release 1

  29. Softline's SCRIPT to FrameMaker Filter is a program to con-
  30. vert documents created using SCRIPT and its various deriva-
  31. tives (see discussion below) to FrameMaker. Throughout this 
  32. document unless otherwise indicated, references to SCRIPT 
  33. are intended to include all of the following products:
  34.  
  35. o    SCRIPT/VS 
  36.  
  37. o    Document Composition Facility (DCF) 
  38.  
  39. o    Generalized Markup Language (GML)
  40.  
  41. o    BookMaster
  42.  
  43. The software provides a comprehensive conversion which 
  44. attempts to minimize the amount of effort required to effect 
  45. document migration. Highlights of the conversion process 
  46. include:
  47.  
  48. o    Conversion of SCRIPT macros to their FrameMaker 
  49. counterparts (Paragraph Catalogues, Font Catalogues, 
  50. Table Catalogues, and Page Layouts).
  51.  
  52. o    SCRIPT index entries are converted to FrameMaker 
  53. index entries.
  54.  
  55. o    SCRIPT cross references are converted to Frame-
  56. Maker cross references.
  57.  
  58. o    All SCRIPT generated lists (Table of Contents, Figure 
  59. List, Table List, etc.) are converted to their Frame-
  60. Maker counterparts.
  61.  
  62. o    SCRIPT drawing commands (.bx, .hr, .vr, etc.) become 
  63. the appropriate FrameMaker drawing commands.
  64.  
  65. Support is provided for all SCRIPT built-in document formats 
  66. including the GML format and the 13 BookMaster named 
  67. styles.
  68.  
  69. A powerful front end processor is provided to segment large 
  70. SCRIPT manuals into multiple FrameMaker document files so 
  71. the user can create a FrameMaker book file to integrate all of 
  72. the document files into a single publication.
  73.  
  74. As a part of installation SII will tailor various aspects of the 
  75. filter to meet local user requirements (this process is distinct 
  76. from the enhancement process discussed later in the docu-
  77. ment). The tailoring process allows for the following:
  78.  
  79. o    Specifying the name of the paragraph tag to be used 
  80. when a particular SCRIPT macro is used to format a 
  81. block of script.
  82.  
  83. o    Provide for font conversions between SCRIPT and 
  84. FrameMaker. Not all of the fonts used in SCRIPT are 
  85. available in FrameMaker.
  86.  
  87. o    Map character sets between SCRIPT and FrameMaker.
  88.  
  89. o    Specify special processing options for certain SCRIPT 
  90. macros.
  91.  
  92. Often when users change between publishing platforms, it is 
  93. with the intention of actually having the documents â•¥look dif-
  94. ferentâ•™ in the new platform. The tailoring facility can be used 
  95. to apply adjustment factors to the SCRIPT document format 
  96. before converting it to FrameMaker. Using a simple example, 
  97. if a user wished to switch from a 1 inch left margin to a 1.5 
  98. inch left margin throughout a document a 0.5 inch left adjust-
  99. ment factor could be applied to all left side measurements. Not 
  100. just the left margin, but items such as tab stops and column 
  101. boundaries.

  103. Specified Operating Environment
  104.  
  105. Machine and programming requirements for SCRIPT to 
  106. FrameMaker filter operation are specified below.
  107.  
  108. Machine Requirements
  109.  
  110. The SCRIPT to FrameMaker filter operates on any processor 
  111. supported by DCF in the VM/CMS or MVS/TSO environ-
  112. ment. The minimum amount of virtual storage required is 4 
  113. MB. More complex documents may require additional virtual 
  114. storage.
  115.  
  116. File storage required for the components of SCRIPT to Frame-
  117. Maker Filter is 10 cylinders of 3380 DASD, or the equivalent. 
  118. The product also requires work disk space equal to 2.5 times 
  119. the disk space occupied by the largest document to be filtered.
  120.  
  121. Programming Requirements
  122.  
  123. This product requires DCF Release 3.2 installed under one of 
  124. the following:
  125.  
  126. o    VM/SP Release 4.0 (with or without HPO) or later
  127.  
  128. o    VM/XA SF2
  129.  
  130. o    VM/XA SP1
  131.  
  132. o    TSO in MVS/SP Release 1.3.0
  133.  
  134. o    TSO in MVS/XA Release 2.1.1
  135.  
  136. If BookMaster documents are to be converted then BookMas-
  137. ter release 3.0 or later must also be installed.
  138.  
  139. Appropriate file transfer software must be installed to allow 
  140. movement of the converted documents from the SCRIPT 
  141. hardware platform to the hardware platform(s) where Frame-
  142. Maker is being operated.
  143.  
  144. The product also requires the installation of SII's enhanced 
  145. MML2MIF Release 3.1 on the platform where FrameMaker is 
  146. running. This program in included in the installation materials 
  147. supplied with the product.
  148.  
  149. Compatibility
  150.  
  151. Because there are substantial differences between the SCRIPT 
  152. and FrameMaker publishing environments, users may have to 
  153. take additional steps to insure an optimal conversion. For 
  154. example, the basic font set shipped with SCRIPT is different 
  155. from the fonts shipped with FrameMaker. As a result, in order 
  156. to make use of certain SCRIPT fonts in a FrameMaker docu-
  157. ment the user may have to procure additional FrameMaker 
  158. fonts. Most of these differences are highlighted in the SCRIPT 
  159. to FrameMaker documentation along with suggested solu-
  160. tions.
  161.  
  162. The formatted results may not be the same because of differ-
  163. ences in the output devices used with SCRIPT and Frame-
  164. Maker.
  165.  
  166. The product does not convert externally maintained graphics 
  167. files such as PSEGs and encapsulated postscript files. The user 
  168. must convert these files separately. The filter makes provisions 
  169. for automatically merging these files once the document has 
  170. been transmitted to the FrameMaker platform.
  171.  
  172. Enhancements
  173.  
  174. If the user has written their own modifications and/or exten-
  175. sions to SCRIPT macro sets (GML, DCF, or BookMaster) the 
  176. product may have to be enhanced to support these changes. 
  177. Such enhancement is performed on a fee-for-service basis 
  178. which is in addition to SII's charge for the base product.
  179.

  183. Restricted materials - Yes. This licensed software is available 
  184. without source licensed software materials. It is available in 
  185. object code only.

  195. Not applicable. A separate license is required for each machine 
  196. on which the SCRIPT to FrameMaker program will be used.

  198. An unlimited restricted use license for the Enhanced 
  199. MML2MIF program is included. Use is limited to processing 
  200. files created by SCRIPT to FrameMaker program.

  206. Type/Duration of Software Services

  208. Central Service until discontinued by Softline with a minimum 
  209. of twelve (12) months notice.

  211. Warranty
  212.  
  213. The SCRIPT to FrameMaker Filter will conform, when 
  214. shipped to the customer, to its Licensed Program Specifica-
  215. tions which are in effect at that time, provided it is properly 
  216. used in a Specified Operating Environment. If the Customer 
  217. believes there is a defect in the program such that it does not 
  218. meet its Licensed Program Specifications, the Customer must 
  219. notify Softline while Software Services are available for the 
  220. program. Softline does not warrant that the functions con-
  221. tained in the program will meet the Customer's requirements; 
  222. or will operate in the combinations which may be selected for 
  223. use by the Customer; or that the operation of the program will 
  224. be uninterrupted; or error free or that all program defects will 
  225. be corrected.

  227. The foregoing warranties are in lieu of all other warranties, 
  228. express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied 
  229. warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular pur-
  230. pose.
  231.  
  232. Licensed Software Specifications may be updated from time to 
  233. time and such updates may constitute a change in specifica-
  234. tions.
  235.  
  236. For Distributed Systems License Options(DSLO) Licenses, 
  237. warranty service, if any, will be provided through the Basic 
  238. License location.
  239.  
  240. Following discontinuance of all program services, the program 
  241. will be distributed on an _As_Is_ basis without warranty of any 
  242. kind either express or implied.
