  15. xloadimage (which accompanies the X11R5 stuff in the contrib directory at
  16. export.lcs.mit.edu and MANY other archive sites) displayes GIF (and other)
  17. images quite nicely.  It can even put the GIF (and other) image(s) as one's
  18. backdrop either tiled or enlarged.

  20. And Jef Poskanzer's PBMplus suite (also at export, uunet, et al) permits
  21. conversion of many other formats to a format usable by xloadimage.

  23. And the JPEG stuff (also at ftp.uu.net) just about rounds-out the necessary
  24. tools one needs.
