  22. The Quantum 105MB does work, but not all "Mac" SCSI disks do. I used to
  23. have a Rodime 100MB hard disk which I took out of an old Mac and used as
  24. the internal hard disk on a SPARCstation 1+ running 4.0.1. It worked fine
  25. as a /var/spool partition. But when I went to 4.1.1 and synchronous SCSI,
  26. I couldn't boot any longer -- I would get a message complaining that the
  27. disk was not releasing the SCSI bus after some command or the other. I
  28. never did figure out what the problem was -- I just took it out.

  30. Also I believe Syquest removable cartridge disks don't work unless you
  31. have a special driver. Certainly the one I have attached to my Mac does
  32. not work on the Sun (same "not releasing the bus" error at boot).

  34. On the other hand, my DataFrame XP330 (a Micropolis 330MB) disk works
  35. fine on Suns, and like Jonathan, we have successfully used Mac Quantum
  36. 105s as well. So before you commit any money, you should probably try out
  37. the disk you want to buy and make sure the system boots and can label the
  38. disk with the format program.
