- I have a few questions about suns, I just obtained a sun 3/80 and I am
- connecting a shoebox from a 3/50 to it. First I got the cable with the
- SCSI I to SCSI II ends and I have been told this will work. I have an
- internal HD in my 3/80. To access this drive I obtained a SCSI terminator.
- When I attempt to boot off the internal SCSI (b sd(0,0,0) is says booting but
- then just hangs. I connected my shoebox to it and it did the same thing, I
- even thought that the two drives might be conflicting and removed the internal
- and tried to just boot off the shoebox. When I tried this I got a bus error
- after some amount of time. One of my questions, besides how
- to fix what is going on here, is how do you change the device number of the
- shoebox drive, since they both might be (0,0,0), and do you know of a what to
- find out what device a drive is. I understand that there is suppose to be a
- switch or counter on the shoebox where the device number can be adjusted. I
- cannot find any such things and do not have a clue how to change the device.
- I cannot access my internal HD and would like to know how. I have also heard
- that the bus may be internally mapped to the internal drive and the drive might
- not have the OS on it. If this is the case, how can I fix it so I can boot
- off the shoebox. Any help will be appreciated.
