- I just happened to buy one of those Alleid Telesis transceivers for
- my Sun IPC. I have the thin co-ax model, but it is also available
- in 10baseT (for sightly less cost). The unit is quite small, not
- much bigger than an RS-232 D shell connector. There is quite a bit
- of electronics inside: a mini dc-dc convertor/isolator, several
- surface mount ICs and a handful for discrete transistors. The
- co-ax version has switchable link beat signal. At first glance, I
- figured that I was getting royally ripped off becuase of the
- diminutive size. Of course, it really isn't worth $69, but I
- didn't feel so bad when I saw there were a fair amount of
- compnonents inside the tiny box.
