- Where do you get your ideas Joe, communist Russia? The history and
- logic behind the patent/copyright concept is well established. Any
- history or business major knows that. That's not to say that the laws
- don't get abused. Clearly the present laws, as they apply to
- software, need to be brought up to date. But any intelligent person
- could see that there would be no incentive to develop software if
- anyone else could simply copy your code, unique idea, whatever and
- distribute it themselves. When AT&T (and Apple and Ashton-Tate) abuse
- the system consumers like us have the responsibility to boycott and
- take them to court. Simply dismissing the patent/copyright system
- wholesale makes no sense.
