  19. What beep are you talking about?  If it's the hardware-generated keyboard
  20. beep, there's not much you can do about it, since it's generated by hardware
  21. in the keyboard :-).  Actually, you could write a timer routine to modulate
  22. the keyboard beeper by rapidly toggling it on and off, but the best you
  23. can get using that technique is an unpleasant raspberry-type sound.

  25. If you mean a beep coming from the D/A and speaker inside the CPU box,
  26. such as something generated by the cuckoo clock, you can substitute any
  27. .au file for the cuckoo.  You can get mail notification by making your
  28. .forward file pipe into play, and you can do silly things like aliasing
  29. cd to play boing.au every time you change directories.  Unfortunately,
  30. I know of no way to automatically map all keyboard beeps into play
  31. commands.
