- I've been having problems with a Maxtor Panther SCSI drive
- ( PO-12S 1gig ) connected to a SPARC1E board ( 4.1e ).
- The disk had countless read errors like the two below and
- the machine soon panicked. Fsck complained of numerous
- unreadable sequential blocks in several areas.
- Format/analyze ( test/compare ) ran without a problem.
- Puzzled, I formatted the disk, ran newfs/fsck all without
- a problem. Disk is currently in use and ok.
- Questions: If fsck is reporting errors, shouldn't format
- find them as well? Is this disk ok?
